Black hat SEO refers to employing tactics which are frowned upon by and can get you in big trouble with Google and other search engines. Link velocity refers to how quickly you build links to your website. The key to link velocity is consistency. This means that you shouldn't build or receive just a few links for a few months and then all of a sudden ratchet it up to hundreds or thousands of new links. This will look unnatural.
All anchor text you might use can be dropped into one of three categories: keyword rich, generic, and brand. It's essential in this Google era of over optimization penalties that everything seem and look natural. What this means in regards to anchor text is that you get a nice healthy mix of all three.
But what do each of the three mean? Let's cover each of the three types of anchor text:
Over optimization in SEO is a relatively new concept when it comes to search engine optimization. It came about a few years ago when Google released an update which was meant to punish webmasters and SEOers who overused keywords with the intent of gaming Google's search algorithm – the part of Google which decides which web pages rank where in the SERPs for keywords.
You may have seen the acronym “LSI” before but weren't quite sure what it meant in regards to SEO. LSI stands for “latent semantic index”. What are LSI keywords? This is really just a fancy phrase for synonyms. One of the most important keys in SEO today is making everything look natural.
Link bait refers to content which is attractive to other webmasters, causing them to easily and quickly link to it of their own volition. This is why link bait is the best kind of content you can and should create, because it's the kind of content which is made for linking to which will garner you a great deal more traffic and links.
Link juice is a phrase which a lot of online marketers use to describe the beneficial effects which a link from one site passes on to the site which its link is pointing toward. Link building is still one of the best things which you can do off site to improve your rankings in the search engines, so working to secure links from high ranking websites will go a long way to boost your visibility in the SERPs.
When it comes to passing link juice, there are two different types of links: DoFollow and NoFollow. DoFollow links are links which pass link juice, or in other words influence in regards to search engines from one page to another. Conversely, NoFollow links are those which don't pass on any influence so they won't effect your rankings.
Link building is the practice of manually or automatically creating links from one site to another for the purpose of either improving a website or page's search engine ranking or increasing a site or page's traffic.
